Castle Hangnail is a book by Ursula Vernon. In the book, there's a party scene and an "Open House" event, which inspired this party. This party imagines that the Open House is an annual event, and everyone from Ursula Vernon/T. Kingfisher's worlds are invited. Our menu is inspired by food mentioned in her works as well.
All ages welcome. If you're old enough to stay up late, you're old enough to come to my party. There will be food, and non-alcoholic & alcoholic beverages.
Come in from the Lanai deck. Our sourdough waffle-making table blocks the hall door.
All attendees welcome.* You must have a convention badge to come in. We'll put a sticker on your badge. This sticker means you came to the party, it has no other significance.
*Management reserves the right to exclude people who have harshed his mellow.
Shy people welcome. If you don't feel like talking to anybody, we have drinks and snacks that are self-service and you can just sit in a corner and quietly color in one of the coloring pages that we have commissioned. We have colored pencils, feel free to bring your pens!
Menu: food, cocktails, mocktails, etc. (PDF)
House Rules etc. Provided for those who like to read all the fine print.
Get vaccinated, if you haven't already, so you can come hang out with us. It's safe, it's free, and I really don't want to lose any more friends to the coronavirus.
The door is unlocked for a reason! When the door is shut, I usually have it propped or taped so it doesn't latch. When there's no "Do Not Disturb" sign, just push on the door. It should be unlocked and you can walk right in.
Most of the non-alcoholic drinks are self-service. (All of the self-service drinks are non-alcoholic.) The soft drink ice chests may also contain chocolate milk, lemonade, limeade, unsweetened iced tea, and water. Some beverages are in individual cans/bottles, others are in big bottles. There are cups and ice for drinks as well. If you need a bottle opener, there's usually one attached to each ice chest.
Stickers provided: please take two or more stickers to mark your cup.
Grenadine and Cherry syrups are provided for those who would like a Shirley Temple or a Cherry Coke.
If you run across an empty bottle, bowl, or platter, please tell the bartender. Please leave cups, cans, and bottles in the bus tub, especially if there is still ice or liquid in them. You should never put partially-filled containers in the wastebaskets, because those are often turned upside down to dump them.
You can come back for more. The badge stickers just let us count how many people come to our parties. You're welcome to have a second or third serving. "We can't go to bed until all the food is gone."
